Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children Hosts 9th Annual Bike Rodeo & Child Safety Day in Dallas

April 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Friends and children of all ages were invited to celebrate April as Child Safety Month in Texas by attending Bike Rodeo and Child Safety Day for an educational and entertaining morning at TSRHC.  

Child Safety Day http://www.tsrhc.org/child-safety.htm is designed to teach community children about traffic safety and general safety including poison control and fire and water safety. Children had the opportunity to see the Dallas Police Department and CareFlite helicopters land, meet the official Dallas Fire Department mascot, Sparky the Dog and take the “Safety Day Pledge.” Children also participated in an official fingerprinting activity with the Dallas Police Department and explore the inside of a fire truck. Lunch was served at this rain or shine event.

Bike Rodeo provides a safe environment for children to practice bicycle safety skills by riding on a course designed to simulate actual road conditions. The activities help make children aware of bicycle safety issues and teaches parents the importance of ensuring that children always use safety equipment. Children had their bikes inspected and had the chance to win a bike. Every child received a free bike helmet.
