WHO: The Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau  and RADD, the Entertainment Industry’s Voice for Road Safety  two non-profit organizations committed to socially-responsible Safe Driving on Jersey Shore Highways and roads and to Smart Partying all summer long. This cooperative “GET REAL” program encourages teens to make smart choices and incorporates teen safe driving and safe partying messages.

WHAT: The “GET REAL” initiative includes 4 safe driving messages: HIT THE ROAD TXT L8TR; DESIGNATE BEFORE YOU CELEBRATE; PARTY SMART; and STEER YOUR OWN RIDE.  Each “GET REAL” slogan is endorsed by young artists in the entertainment industry.

TARGET: The mission of the “GET REAL” campaign is to highlight the fact that the Jersey Shore is both a fun and safe destination and that visitors can enjoy themselves while at the same time, receiving encouragement to take the necessary steps to do so safely and responsibly.  The overarching goal of the campaign is to have social responsibility work in concert with other tourism efforts to ultimately create an ideal environment. Long-term positive impacts include enhancing the Jersey Shore’s image as a destination location, increasing visitors, decreasing negative behavior and related incidents.

The mission of the campaign is to highlight the fact that The Shore is both a fun and safe destination and that visitors can enjoy themselves while at the same time, taking the necessary steps to do so safely and responsibly.  The overarching goal of the campaign is to have social responsibility work in concert with other Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau efforts creating an ideal environment which will result in long-term positive impact including enhancing the shore’s image as a destination location, while increasing visitors and decreasing negative behavior and related incidents.

The RADD campaign will focus on four major points (Four Steps for a Safe Shore) that will produce a safe environment for both the community and visitors with each prong having related collateral materials.  The first initiative  "Hit the Road TXT L8TR" will roll out this summer.  The goal is to remind visitors that the Garden State Parkway and the Jersey Shore's roads are no place for texting -- and that includes drivers (parents as well as teens) and pedestrians traveling from the car to the sand.
