Follow on Google News | Christian Ministry Uses Inernet Radio to Reach Baby Boomers"How to best reach Baby Boomers nearing retirement?" That was the question Greg and Margaret Fisher asked themselves. The search for an answer led them to an innovative solution.
By: Gregory Fisher Each week the show's hosts take time to talk about issues of importance to Baby Boomers. "We have done shows on identity theft, surviving terrorist attacks, and answering the 'so what?' question of life" says co-host Margaret Fisher. The Fishers also weave their own unique personalities into the show as well. According to the Fishers, the most downloaded episode of Second Half Christians was the time the couple were stuck in a blizzard in Shamrock, Texas. "Another time we took our computer along with us on vacation and did our show from Taos, New Mexico, one week" remembers Margaret. That is the beauty of the BlogTalkRadio site. The shows can be done from anywhere in the world with only a computer, a microphone, and broadband internet access. Second Half Christians has more than 2,700 listeners in the USA, Europe, Asia, and Africa who follow the weekly show. With the success of the initial Sunday evening show, the Fishers have also added an additional Thursday evening prayer program. "The prayer program is patterned after the Friday night prayer meetings we experienced while doing ministry in Africa for 20 years" says Greg Fisher. The hour long prayer program is broken up into 15 minute segments during which prayer topics like prayers for the nations, prayer for the political leaders in USA, and prayers for persecuted Christians are prayed over. The Fishers weave Biblical teaching about prayer through out the show as well. Listeners to the Thursday evening show can also call into the program with their own personal prayer requests and the Fishers pray over them live on the air. Listeners can also e-mail their prayer requests to: prayer.program@ Most of the Second Half Christians Sunday radio shows return to a favorite theme: Finding purpose in life. The Fishers contend that many of their Baby Boomer cohorts started life with great dreams and hopes, but few actually found a meaningful purpose for their lives. The Fishers contend that Baby Boomers can regain their lost purpose and fulfill their dreams even after reaching senior status. "There is never a point at which it is too late to change direction in life" says Margaret Fisher. According to the Fishers finding purpose in life is done through a spiritual relationship with God. The Second Half Christians internet radio show is done live, with past shows offered for download as podcasts on iTunes. Listeners can interact live via the unique chat room that opens up for each live show. In addition, they can also call in by telephone to 1 (646) 929-2432. # # # Greg and Margaret Fisher founded the Second Half Christians ministry in 2009 with the hope of motivating their fellow Baby Boomers to regain their God given purpose in life.
