Follow on Google News | San Diego Boca FC Sign Forward Dan Antoniuk For Remaining 2010 SeasonFormer All-American and USL-1 All-Star to Join Boca FC for Upcoming NPSL League Match against Oregon Fuego
By: Matt Gorham Antoniuk played four years for Wheaton College in Massachusetts, and holds the school records for goals (54) and points (144). He was named to the All-American third team his freshman year. Yan Skwara, President/General Manager commented, “We are very excited to have Dan as part of our Boca FC club as he is a seasoned pro who happens to be available at this time after a strong indoor season with the San Diego Sockers. Dan has very good size at 6’3 and is a very strong player both on and off the ball. He is an excellent addition to our side as we enter the second half of the season. We will look for Dan to beef up our attack and put the ball in the back of the net and help us win games.” Antoniuk has extensive professional experience in both indoor and outdoor leagues. He began his professional career with the Portland Timbers of the United Soccer League First Division in 2003. In his third year with the team, Antoniuk recorded 13 goals in only 24 games, being recognized as a USL-1 All-Star. The next few years saw Antoniuk bounce around various American and Canadian indoor and outdoor leagues. He played for the Vancouver Whitecaps, Montreal Impact, Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina RailHawks, and Charleston Battery of the USL-1, totaling 33 goals, as well as the Milwaukee Wave, Philadelphia KiXX, New Jersey Ironmen, and Chicago Storm of the Major Indoor Soccer League, tallying over 60 goals. Dan Antoniuk will join the team for their upcoming match on Saturday, June 19 against the Southern Oregon Fuego. He will look to bring his finishing prowess to a Boca FC attack that frequently creates scoring opportunities, but has struggled so far this season to convert those chances into goals. He will have plenty of opportunities to exhibit his skills against an Oregon defense that has allowed 38 goals in only seven matches this season.
