June 10, 2010 - PRLog -- An orginal painting created by International Contemporary Artist Craig Baskin will be featured and auctioned at the Stars & Stripes Fishing, Golf & Music Festival, June 24-27, 2010 at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort. The annual festival/tournament, started in 1996 by Dick Gebhard, is the only event of its kind in the world, combining deep-sea fishing in the Sea of Cortez, golfing on two of the finest golf courses in Cabo and top musical entertainment acts. Each year, worthy non-profit organizations benefitting children in Southern California and Mexico are selected as beneficiaries of the event, which has raised more than $10 million over its 13-year history. This year's beneficiaries are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Orangewood Children's Foundation, Boy Scouts of America Los Angeles Council, Miracles for Kids and Mexico's Green Scholarship Program.

Craig Baskin's original contemporary, abstract paintings are always colorful and inspiring. A US Masters Long Distance Ocean Swimmer and part-time Cabo resident, Craig regularly trains in the waters of Cabo, using the colors he sees as his inspiration.
This painting, entitled "Cabo Cielo", interprets the sea-to-sky beauty of Los Cabos in a blend of vibrant blues. "Having spent so much time swimming and living in Cabo, I wanted the work to convey what I see -- the amazing  blue waters of the Sea of Cortez as they appear to become one with the awesome clear blue skies," said Baskin. "Anyone who has ever visited Cabo knows how this looks. I hope my painting is accurate in its interpretation."

Craig Baskin's original, contemporary abstract paitings sell in the $2,500-$15,000 range.
The original painting of his work, "Port-au-Prince HOPE", was recently added to the permanent collection at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.

The Stars & Stripes Festival was a natural draw for Baskin. "The Stars & Stripes directly benefits kids and is known as 'The Feel Good Tournament'," Craig said. "Unlike many artists' works, my paintings are NOT about some deep-dark message -- they just nake you feel good!" I am happy to have created "Cabo Cielo" for the Stars & Stripes and  I hope the proceeds from its sale make the buyers and the kids all feel good."
