June 25, 2010 - PRLog -- BestRoadTripPlanner.com, a new web service designed to make road trip & scenic drive planning fast and easy, has recently become even more powerful with the implementation of new map and search technologies.

We started out by revamping our homepage to present a graphical map of the US that allows visitors to quickly and easily select a state of their choice and dive right down into the list of recommended road trips for that state.  The change came about when we noticed that some visitors were not noticing or using the “Choose a State” drop down menu and instead only seeing the list of our newest road trip routes and updates.  We developed a dynamically linked US map, placed it on the homepage and literally overnight our homepage bounce rate plummeted … meaning more folks were getting to their road trip information faster.

Also, each states’ road trip listing page incorporates Google Maps based “thumbnail sized” maps.  This allows visitors to quickly scan up and down the list to see where the road trips are across the state.  If they are not sure where the scenic drive’s area is, they can quickly and easily click on the “view larger map” which explodes the thumbnail into a full size interactive Google map of the state where they can zoom in and out to get their bearings and locate the road trip’s area.

Making the road trip planning process more powerful is BestRoadTripPlanner.com’s database that allows visitors to perform powerful searches to see all the road trips that even simply pass through a small portion of a given state (vice simply presenting scenic drives that are fully and exclusively contained in that state).  This helps travelers who are interested in traveling a portion of a road trip.  For example, the road trip entitled “Ohio River Scenic Byway” is a massive 943-mile journey that actually passes through three separate states.  If a rider in Illinois clicks on the Illinois section they’ll see many Illinois only road trips but they will also see this one that passes through the state on the way to Indiana and Ohio.  Then they can decide if they want to drive the Illinois leg of this scenic drive or if they want to in fact take the entire trek across southern Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

Lastly, BestRoadTripPlanner.com utilizes the power of Google Search by imbedding a search box that uses Google search engine to comb through the BestRoadTripPlanner.com database and find desired roads based on small and sometimes obscure details.  This tool can be very handy for visitors who want to, for example, find road trips that specialize in somewhat rare attributes like offer antique shopping, covered bridges, or classic 50s era drive-in style restaurants.  The BestRoadTripPlanner.com Google search tool will help visitors find these rarities along recommended scenic roads and not force them to sift through the millions of hits they would have to if they simply did a search, for example, on “antique shopping” at Google.com.

Interactive US maps, information packed thumbnail maps, and imbedded Google Search capabilities are just some of the many handy travel tools and technologies that BestRoadTripPlanner.com has brought to American road trip planning.
