By: Nancy Zimmerman The inaugural GSHNJ Green Gala will celebrate the accomplishments of Chris Daggett, former Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and former Commissioner of the State Department of Environmental Protection, for his leadership role in protecting the environment. His ongoing volunteer efforts to preserve environmentally sensitive properties throughout the state as a New Jersey advisory board co-chair of the Trust for Public Land has resulted in the preservation of thousands of acres of open space. “It is with great appreciation and admiration that we honor Chris Daggett for his contributions to protecting and sustaining a green environment for our New Jersey communities," GSHNJ is seeking nominations for girls and adults from the GSHNJ Council community to submit current projects that will serve as models of protecting the environment, by conserving, renewing, reusing, or recycling. One girl and one adult nominee will be selected to receive special honors at the Gala and their projects will be featured on the GSHNJ Council website. Nominations must be submitted by July 21st to Kate Whitman, Senior Director Fund Development, Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey, at kwhitman@gshnj.org and must include a short description of the program. Tickets to this special evening of cocktails, dinner, and an exciting program begin at $250. Sponsorships are available as well.
