WNBA Superstar Tamika Catchings Covers EEW Online Magazine

July 7, 2010 - PRLog -- 2-time Olympic gold medalist Tamika Catchings who is currently nominated for a 2010 ESPY award in the “Best WNBA Player” category, is featured on the July 2010 cover of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine (www.eewmagazine.com), regarded the most popular urban niche publication for Christian women of color. In an exclusive interview with the publication's Founder and Editor In Chief, Dianna Hobbs, the Indiana Fever's star player talks at length about how she overcame the early stigma of being mocked for her hearing deficiency and speech impediment. Catchings also opens up about being ready for love and the important role of faith in helping triumph over adversity in life.

Catchings and the Indiana Fever are just coming off their fourth straight win over Chicago with a 58-51 victory over the Sky on Tuesday July 6. But Catchings, a key scorer in the game with 16 points,  is never one to focus on her successes as an individual player.

Says Catchings, who is also Founder of the “Catch the Stars Foundation” aimed at helping at-risk youth achieve their goals, “I don't play basketball to get recognized on an individual basis. Through the talents and abilities God has blessed me with, I'm able to be nominated for so many different things, and doing all that also gives me the opportunity to reach back and be able to use my status and platform as a WNBA player to reach back and help the young kids. I'm really passionate about kids."
