By: Special Olympics Louisiana Registration is underway, don’t miss out! Those who register first are allowed to choose the time slot of their choice. Anyone can participate in this thrilling experience by raising or paying $1,000. (Start today and get 50 friends to give you $20 dollars!) Potential participants should go to the Over the Edge link on the Special Olympics Louisiana website at www.laso.org and create a Firstgiving fundraising page, which will allow their friends, family, and colleagues to "sponsor" their rappel. Firstgiving makes raising the money easy and is safe and secure. “Special Olympics is a noble cause to support and I think this is one of the most original fundraising ideas to participate in,” said Benson LeBlanc. “I have always had a passion for adventure and luckily I have rappelling experience, but anyone can try this professional program where they teach you self empowerment through a once in a lifetime experience. I hope more people sign up for Over the Edge and donate to Special Olympics.” All participants will be treated like VIPs while their supporters and Special Olympics athletes cheer them on during their thrilling descent. All proceeds will provide sports and competition training programs to the more than 13,000 athletes involved in Special Olympics Louisiana; including the 2,600 athletes in the Greater New Orleans area alone!
