Follow on Google News | Sparkle 2010 – An Amazing Weekend Of Transgender CelebrationThe Sparkle Transgender Celebration 2010 was another amazing weekend – the 6th Sparkle took place on the 9th, 10th and 11th July in Manchester, UK.
By: Beckie Cannons The main event – Sparkle In The Park – was a huge success. The fine weather ensured that the day was enjoyed by everyone. Sparkle 2010 had the largest number of stalls and exhibits in its history, and the Sparkle Stage was packed full of ‘trans’ entertainment from bands, singing, comedy, and ending with this year with ‘Tranny Of The Year’ competition. “It was the best Sparkle that I have attended…it was an amazing weekend” - Yvonne Oakley. This year also saw the welcome return of the talks and workshops, held at the The Mechanics Institute. Topics covered everything from Transgender Legal Right and Feminism, to Make-up and Beauty Tips -the feedback on all sessions was very positive. The Sparkle Ball was also introduced to provide an additional celebration to the weekend, and an alternative to the ‘the village’ in Manchester, which, always provides a great location for the Sparkle Celebration and everyone to enjoy who they are and what being transgendered mean to them. “Another fantastic day at Sparkle… This is just the type of event that helps increase trust and confidence in the communities.” Ready For Sparkle 2011?
