July 28, 2010 - PRLog -- CLEVELAND - July 27, 2010 - CampusEAI Consortium today announced the availability of the CampusEAI Consortium Private Cloud for higher education. The CampusEAI Private Cloud is powered by industry vendors and service providers including Dell  (Nasdaq GS: DELL), AT&T  , NetApp  (Nasdaq GS: NTAP), VMware  , Symantec  (Nasdaq GS:SYMC), Equinix  (Nasdaq GS: EQIX) and Cisco  (Nasdaq GS: CSCO).

The CampusEAI Private Cloud is an elastic, scalable platform that allows colleges and universities to host enterprise applications including:
    • Enterprise Resource Planning/Student Information Systems
    • Student/Campus Portal Systems
    • Prospective Student Portal Systems
    • Alumni Portal Systems
    • ePortfolio Systems
    • Web Content Management Systems
    • Identity Management Systems
    • Learning Management Systems

The elastic architecture of the CampusEAI Private Cloud consists of a multi-homed Cisco  -powered network, Dell  -powered servers, NetApp  -powered storage, VMware  -powered-virtualization and Symantec  -powered backup and recovery. The system resides in Equinix  -powered data centers. CampusEAI Consortium’s 24x7x365 network operations center monitors the uptime and security of the enterprise applications in CampusEAI Private Cloud.

Members benefit from moving to the CampusEAI Private Cloud in many ways, including:
    • Elasticity and scalability. CampusEAI Private Cloud enables computing on demand
by providing the ability to increase the supply of computing resources as they
are needed to deal with spikes in demand for a particular application or
service. Computing resources are turned into a commodity so more can be
added over time, as needed, to ensure systems are almost infinitely scalable.

    • Lower costs. A fundamental attraction of the CampusEAI Private Cloud is that
it can provide an opportunity to reduce costs. Savings come from the use of
computing resources based at one or more low-cost locations, which are
managed efficiently using automation, and by realizing economies of scale
stemming from the use of specialist staff members managing large quantities
       of computing resources.

Institutions which have already moved to the CampusEAI Private Cloud include:
    • University of North Carolina Wilmington: utilizing the Cloud for hosting
      myCampus campus portal
    • Waynesburg University: utilizing the Cloud for hosting public website and web
      content management system
    • Touro College: utilizing the Cloud for hosting Oracle-based enterprise identity and
      access management services (EIDM)
    • Albany State University: utilizing the Cloud for hosting myCampus-based alumni
portal, capital campaign and public website
    • Curry College: utilizing the Cloud for hosting myCampus-based admitted student
portal, myCampus-based parent portal and myCampus-based campus portal.

"We are excited to make the CampusEAI Private Cloud available to higher education institutions," said Anjli Jain, Executive Director of the CampusEAI Consortium. "We look forward to helping our member institutions improve the quality of service and reduce the cost of operating their enterprise applications."
