July 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Forty-thousand dollar worth of scholarships will be awarded to eleven college and university students by the Twin Cities chapter of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) at its 29th annual scholarship gala. The scholarships are awarded to minority students with outstanding performances in academia and community service.

Candi Castleberry-Singleton, the Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), will be the keynote speaker a t the dinner honoring the scholarship recipients at the downtown Minneapolis Radisson Hotel on August 12th. UPMC is an $8 billion integrated global health enterprise and is one of the leading healthcare systems in the United States.

This year’s theme, Blink: the Speed of Change, demonstrates the ability of the NBMBAA and its membership to transform and adapt to a fast-changing business environment. The choice of this theme could not have come at a more appropriate time as recent studies have shown that minorities as a group have been hard hit by the recent global recession. Education and investments in innovative business ventures will be instrumental in improving this grim landscape.

Castleberry-Singleton’s exceptional experience in coaching senior executives and collaborating with key business owners around the country will illustrate key tactics in re-inventing oneself in a continuing competitive business world.

“As we celebrate our 40th anniversary,” says Robert Ngwu, President of the Twin Cities NBMBAA chapter, “we remain strongly committed to our core mission of leading in the creation of educational opportunities and economic wealth for African Americans.”

Over the last twenty-eight years, the NBMBAA has awarded over $190,000 in scholarships to deserving college and university students around the country.
