Aug. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- What happens when two people from different worlds who never knew each other prior to one fateful meeting, yet a common interest brings them together?

It’s a question L. Anne Carrington answers in her novel, "The Cruiserweight," which won an Honorable Mention for Best Book - Misc. Sports, and Carrington named Best New Sports Author in Paparazzi Publishing’s Sports Theme Book Awards.

The book was selected for publication by Night Publishing, a publishing arm of Valley Strategies Ltd, a business consultancy arm of Mud Valley strategy and brand marketing community. Mud Valley is a UK-registered limited liability company.

Night Publishing plans to release "The Cruiserweight" in paperback between the end of 2010 and early 2011.

“The book combines wrestling with romance. Brett Kerrigan and Karen Montgomery aren’t the average novel main characters,” Carrington says. “There is ‘wrestler’ Brett that the public sees, but readers will also get a look at the human side of him. Cocky and arrogant in the ring, away from the spotlight, Brett is a kind-hearted man with anxiety problems which are only calmed by marijuana use. He’s frustrated with his status in a major wrestling company until he’s released from his talent contract. He’s uneasy around women, except for those who are his friends or the occasional one-night stand. Karen is a plus sized woman seventeen years older than Brett, and a sports journalist whose focus is on wrestling. She’s been a fan of his for years and even wrote a feature on Brett, which earned her an award. They meet a year after Karen’s feature is printed, become fast friends, and their relationship emerges from there. In between, readers learn of the ups and downs in each of Brett’s and Karen’s respective careers and personal lives.”

Carrington is a writer whose previous work has covered topics from fiction to news stories, human interest features, and entertainment reviews. She wrote "The Wrestling Babe" internet column for seven years, is a former music reviewer for "Indie Music Stop", and composes other articles of interest, which appear in both print media and on the World Wide Web.

Author Stacey Danson, who wrote "Dudes Down Under" and the acclaimed biography "Empty Chairs", offered her insight about "The Cruiserweight":

"The pacing in this doesn't let up, enjoyed the read again as I refreshed my memory of Brett and Karen...and the heat generated. A look into the world of wrestling, unfamiliar and made intriguing with the help of Carrington’s creative gift, this deserves to be right on top, exactly as it should be."

"The Cruiserweight" is scheduled for release in e-book and electronic reader versions in Fall 2010. A free preview of the novel can be seen online at www.freado.com/book/7708/the-cruiserweight

In addition to her current post as a staff member and columnist on Authors on Show (www.authorsonshow.com), a literary website which showcases new authors as well as features news and information by and for aspiring and published writers, Carrington continues to write and planning a second project, "The Meaux Book of Cat Tales". She is also available for public speaking engagements and appearances.

Her official website is www.lannecarrington.com.
