Announcing the LBM Research Institute

The newly created LBM Research Institute will to perform original research on topics specific to lumber/building material dealers and distributors.
 
Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- LBM Journal,  the leading magazine for the lumber/building material distribution channel, has announced the formation of the LBM Research Institute. The purpose of the Institute is to perform original research on topics specific to lumber/building material dealers and distributors.

Veteran market research professional John Cashmore will serve as executive director of The LBM Research Institute. “John brings decades of related industry experience to this new role,” says Rick Schumacher, editor and publisher of LBM Journal.  “Unlike other market research individuals whose practice may include cars or orange juice, John’s sole focus is on building materials and residential construction. That focus has clearly benefited dozens of companies that have worked with John during the past 25 years. He is a well-known and widely-respected expert throughout the industry, and I’m exceptionally pleased to have him heading up the LBM Research Institute.”

The LBM Research Institute’s projects will include the respected Best In Class Awards (BICA), in which LBM dealers and distributors are surveyed to identify the standout brands in various building product categories. The initial 2010 BICAs, which focus on Exterior Doors (steel and wood categories), were announced in the July/August issue of LBM Journal . Future studies will focus on decking; windows; mouldings and trimboards; siding; fasteners, insulation, and additional category areas.  

In addition to research conducted specifically for editorial purposes in LBM Journal,  the LBM Research Institute is available to conduct qualitative and quantitative studies, including focus groups,  in-person and telephone surveys for any entity at very reasonable fees.
