Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals Brings 34th Annual Convention to Downtown Memphis

Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- MEMPHIS, Tenn., August  2010 – The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) held its 34th Annual Convention and Career Exposition at the Marriott Memphis Downtown Hotel and Memphis Cook Convention Center August 2-6. Memphis-based FedEx Express was the primary sponsor of the convention that  included the Black Aviation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony  and concluded with the annual black tie awards gala on Friday evening, August 6. A major highlight was the presentation by FedEx Express and OBAP of a 727 aircraft to  Western Michigan University.
   
Highlights of the convention and expo, whose theme was "Preparing to Soar," included events that were open to the public and held at the hotel and convention center and various other locations throughout the city. Some of these unique events further OBAP’s mission of motivating youth to become educationally prepared through Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) programs.
