Aug. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- Hutkay Films Pvt Ltd creates stylish movies out of any special occasion; be it a wedding, a 40th birthday party, a company’s awards’ ceremony, or even a 25th anniversary celebration. The idea behind Hutkay Films is to capture and document those fleeting but perfect moments that occur all too rarely in our lives.

In Hutkay Films’ wedding movies, the bride and groom are the stars with family and friends in important character roles. The film captures the joy and revelry of Indian marriages, includes interviews and anecdotes from guests and relatives, old photographs, and a racy narrative about the couple. A wedding movie created by Hutkay Films, we guarantee, will become a cherished memory for the entire family and generations to come.

Leher Kala, 34, is Director, Hutkay Films, the first company focusing solely on the nostalgia space in India. “Besides weddings and birthdays we chronicle other special events as well," explains Leher. “Many companies want to archive their off-sites and award functions which is where we step in,” she says. Hutkay Films has completed 11 movies, including one on the launch of the Delhi Art Gallery at The Emporio, two films for the Indian Express and is currently at work on a film for The Doon School’s alumni party. On the cards are video albums for parents of newborns, where Hutkay makes a video movie on a baby’s 1st year, tracing how s/he has evolved from 0-12 months.

The Indian Wedding Industry alone is estimated to be worth over ` 50,000 crores annually, yet there has been nobody documenting weddings professionally. Every film by Hutkay is shot on state-of-the-art cameras by experienced cameramen and includes a minimum of 20 interviews per half-hour movie. The editing process is meticulous and painstaking, and can take up to three weeks.

Leher has spent a decade in journalism. Her first exposure to filmmaking was at Aaj Tak where she worked as a reporter-anchor from 2000 to 2005 in Features, often filing a story a day and working on several half-hour specials. She worked as Senior Assistant Editor at The Indian Express from 2006 to 2010. She continues to write a weekly column for The Indian Express, “ON THE LOOSE,” an irreverent take on life that appears every Monday. She decided to start Hutkay Films after she saw her own wedding video, which she felt was unwatchable.
