Sept. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Ledgewood—The 16th Annual Howl & Hike, a dog walk fundraiser to benefit Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association, takes place on Sunday, October 10 at Horseshoe Lake in Succasunna. The festivities will be held from 12pm to 3pm.

This highly anticipated annual event was attended by over 400 people and 270 dogs in 2009, and raised more than $15,000 for Noah's Ark programs and animal care.

This year brings even more fun activities for the whole family — especially those of the four-legged variety! Participants can compete in the canine costume contest for prizes, while enjoying the offerings of pet-related vendors including VETdispatch, Morris K9 Campus, Foot Solutions, Petco, Wolf Vision, Boredom Buster Pet Care LLC, Ring Their Necks, and Roxbury’s own Cliff’s Ice Cream.  MoonDoggieCoffee.com will be selling their fresh-squeezed lemonade, hot chocolate, muffins, biscotti, and other assorted pastries, while Big D's Dogs will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and other tasty treats and refreshments.

Purrs N’ Pups Animal Rescue Team, Scales & Tails, and Cascade Beagle Rescue will also be in attendance.

Each attendee will be given a door prize game card that lists all vendors in attendance.  Vendors will present stickers to attendees who stop by for a visit, and once the participant has collected a sticker from each vendor, they may return it to the registration desk to serve as a raffle ticket in a drawing for door prizes.

Lorenzo Borghese, appeared on ABC’s reality TV show: The Bachelor – Rome in the Fall of 2006.  Founder and president of Royal Treatment Italian Pet Spa, a high-end bath, body and skin care line for pets, founder of RoyalPetClub.com, will be on hand to for photographs, and Eric Hayes (erichayesmusic.com) will be performing at the event.  Playing the guitar and percussion since age 16, the now 27-year-old Far Hills native and William Paterson University graduate has been amazing audiences with his vocal and instrumental talents ever since.

Proud pet owners will even have the opportunity to have their furry bundles of joy blessed by Pastor Joe Monahan of Succasunna United Methodist Church, Father Bob of St. Theresa Parish Roman Catholic Community, or Reverend Ginny Dinsmore of St. Dustan’s Episcopal Church.

The cost is $25 for individual admission fee; individuals under 18 and dogs are free.  All proceeds will de dedicated to the many life-saving and enriching programs sponsored by Noah’s Ark. Noah’s Ark works with shelters in New Jersey as well as other states to place adoptable animals that would otherwise be euthanized.  Dedicated Noah’s Ark volunteers spend hours with the cats and dogs getting them socialized and ready to move to a forever home.

In 2008, Noah’s Ark adopted over 700 animals to responsible loving homes. Today, there are 280 million pet owners for 350 million pets in America. But we still have a long way to go.  Millions of cats and dogs are euthanized every year to make space for more unwanted animals.

That’s why Noah’s Ark encourages Howl & Hike participants to ask family members, co-workers, and friends to sponsor them in this great fundraising event.  This year, participants are invited to build their own fundraising page and register online for the event by visiting http://www.firstgiving.com/noahsarknj.  Pledge forms will also be available the day of the event.  Top pledge collectors will receive a prize.

Let your pet help put the “Hoooowl” in the Annual Howl & Hike.  Mention that your dog is a Noah’s Ark alumnae and receive a free gift.

About Noah’s Ark

Noah’s Ark is a non-profit organization caring for animals for more than 40 years. Noah’s Ark operates a life-saving facility that adheres to an “adoption-focused” philosophy; no adoptable pet will be euthanized due to age, breed, lack of space or modifiable behavioral issues. The organization also provides additional animal-focused services, including a Spay-Neuter Hotline people can contact to receive coupons for reduced spay or neuter services from a network of veterinarians in the community.  Noah’s Ark relies on donations from the local community to support its work.
