Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- In the recently released novel titled, “Titanic: Echo of the Dying Confession,” by fictional author Troy Veenstra, tells the story of the former owner of White Star Lines creating the three mega ships for the sole purpose of sinking the 2nd built ship, (Titanic) in an act of vengeance against the American millionaire that he believed stole the company from him.  The novel, though fiction, goes further in showing how the former owner purposely assisted in the design flaws, the lack of lifeboats, and even ran interference of the ships crew during the entire inception of ship from its creation to its untimely sinking.

Louise Patten, author and Granddaughter of the Titanic’s second officer Charles Lightoller, stated in a press release yesterday (September 22, 2010) “The Titanic hit an iceberg in 1912 because of a basic steering error and only sank as fast as it did because an official persuaded the captain to continue sailing” (Mike Collett-White, Routers).
Furthermore Patten states that her grandfather, “heard not only about the fatal mistake but also the fact that J. Bruce Ismay — chairman of Titanic's owner, the White Star Line — persuaded the captain to continue sailing, sinking the ship hours faster than would otherwise have happened. In Titanic: Echo of the Dying Confession, author Troy Veenstra showed this by introducing a memo from Ismay which was sent out to all officers of the White Star Lines, just prior to the maiden voyage of the Titanic, informing all officers that their immediate resignation would be expected due to any incident involving the damage and/or loss of a White Star Ship, as White Star was their own insurers and thus could result not only in their own loss of livelihood but the companies financial ruin.
Patten adds further weight to Veenstra’s theory of events when she stated that her Grandfather, “covered up the error in two inquiries on both sides of the Atlantic because he was worried it would bankrupt the ill-fated liner's owners and put his colleagues out of a job.” Which, as shown in “Titanic: Echo of the Dying Confession,” was the purpose of the ship being built.
