By: LIK USA To capture Tree of Hope, Lik travelled to an island off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina to shoot what is thought to be the oldest living thing east of the Rocky Mountains. Estimated to be 1,500 years old, the Tree of Hope towers over 65 feet high with a canopy that spans over 17,000 square feet. The tree predates Christopher Columbus' voyage to North America. It has come to be known as a symbol of strength and resiliency in the face of adversity having survived countless hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. In addition to the Tree of Hope release on September 25, a collection of 21 new pieces, the Peter Lik Fall 2010 Collection, will also debut.
