Peter Lik Release, “Tree of Hope” Sold Out in 72 Hours

Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Within 72 hours of its limited release, Peter Lik’s newest piece, Tree of Hope has sold out.  Only released to Artist Proof and Limited Edition collectors, the official release date is scheduled for Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m. in all LIK GALLERIES.  Tree of Hope is the first piece in Peter Lik’s history that has sold out prior to its public release.  Other sold out editions include Tree of Life, Ghost, Paradise and Painted Skies.  Lik was filming in Hawaii with the NBC Peacock Productions team when news broke about the piece being sold out.  He said, “I’m blown away. I connected with the tree and its history and was able to share it with my collectors.  I’m humbled.”

To capture Tree of Hope, Lik travelled to an island off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina to shoot what is thought to be the oldest living thing east of the Rocky Mountains.  Estimated to be 1,500 years old, the Tree of Hope towers over 65 feet high with a canopy that spans over 17,000 square feet.  The tree predates Christopher Columbus' voyage to North America.  It has come to be known as a symbol of strength and resiliency in the face of adversity having survived countless hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.
