By: clickR Skin Care Conceived by Florence Sender, a successful product developer, businesswoman and self-professed ethical packaged goods junkie, Boston-based clickR is slated to debut exclusively at Sephora in January 2011. Gearing up to that launch, clckr.com, will go live in October of this year. Made especially for acne-prone, youthful skin, the clickR collection is presently launching two categories of unique formulas: “No More Derma Drama,” addresses acne, and “Figure it Out” promotes daily, healthy skincare and repair. “No More Derma Drama” is made up of several acne treatment products, including a Daily Dermabrasion Wash and a Hot Face Mask, which exfoliates, removes debris and transmits nutrients that prevent DNA damage from the environment. “Figure it Out” features a Diamond Dust Skin-polisher that encourages skin cell growth, a Pearl Wash that cleans the skin and tightens pores, a Day Brilliant Lotion with SPF 15 that actually keeps pollutants from being absorbed into the skin and a Stop-time Night Cream that promotes healthy skin while you sleep. A third category of the clickR collection called “Easy Karma” is currently being developed to focus on skin issues caused by over-use of today’s technology, Sender says. With projected first-year sales between $5 million and $10 million, the basis for clickR was formed when Sender met a chemist who had created an acne treatment void of benzoyl peroxide for his son. “He didn’t think it was good for his son to use that chemical on his face, so he formulated an all-natural product that, guess what, actually worked!” Then things really started clicking. The son’s friends told his friends, and they told theirs until news fell upon the ears of a lab owner whose own son had used the formulation successfully. Impressed with the results, the lab owner made an offer to the chemist that is rare in today’s competitive and expensive world of product development. “He would let the chemist make his formula in his lab provided he make the product for his kid! That’s what I love about clickR. It’s a real product developed by real people who really care about the people they made it for.” With the formula perfected and the manufacturing secured, it was time to develop an actual product. That’s when Sender stepped in with her more than 30 years of business experience, seven of which were focused on the comparative advantage of specific industries in a changing environment. “The problem with other products is that they take a long time to work, and our trials showed visible results in 24 hours,” says Sender. Additionally, clickR didn’t cause redness and dryness like many over-the-counter products containing benzoyl peroxide. Never tested on animals and completely vegan, clickR’s formulations are so cleverly conceived that they’re effective for any skin type and can be sold without warning labels for pregnant women and nursing mothers. The non-irritating, natural ingredients in clickR have a history of efficacy and safety. One such ingredient is salicylic acid, which comes from the white willow tree. It acts as a superior exfoliant that improves the appearance of aging, sun-damaged skin without the irritation of benzoyl peroxide. The other is lactic acid, which derives from milk sugar and cornstarch. It improves the appearance of oily skin and prevents acne, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. Additionally, it reduces acne scars, enhances skin’s texture, reduces wrinkles and lightens freckles. And then there’s a third ingredient – all-natural and effective as well – that Sender prefers to keep under wraps for now. “What I can say is that it’s an ingredient that gets into the pores, unglues dead skin cells and enables them to be washed away,” she says. “Getting rid of dead skin cells is so important because when they combine with an oversupply of sebum, food is created for bacteria, and that is what causes a pimple. So in a sense, clickR is able to stop a breakout even before it happens!” The letdown of many acne treatments currently on the market is that they’re either strong and cause irritation, or mild and have little benefit. clickR, however, is effectively strong, yet sensitive in the way it reacts with the skin, much in the way Sender formed the brand’s business model. “There used to be a time in the retail world when I lectured about forming business relationships based on love and trust, but those days are over” Sender says. “Like the formulation in clickR, I see today’s successful businesses being created on the basis of strength and sensitivity. Just like the father who created a product for his son, everything we’ve done with clickR was done for the consumer. It’s both a business plan and a collection of skincare that finally clicks.” # # # clickR is a boston-based skin care company slated to debut exclusively at Sephora in January 2011.
