Sept. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- (Apple Valley, Minn.) – Incumbent Republican John Kline announced his support yesterday for the GOP Pledge to America, although it appears to be in direct conflict with his own actions over the past eight years.

"As my 35 Cent Tour highlights, our communities have languished with no new investments under John Kline; now he is promoting a 'pledge' to supposedly deliver jobs and make America more competitive," said Shelley Madore. "He's had his chance to lead; he's let our community down."

Included in the Pledge to America are supposed solutions to:
Create jobs, end economic uncertainty, and make America more competitive; incumbent John Kline has refused to fund local transportation and other important community projects and recently voted against the Small Business Jobs Act.

Stop out-of-control spending and reduce the size of government; incumbent John Kline voted for the Bank Bailout and the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska.

Repeal and replace the government takeover of health care; incumbent John Kline voted for excessive pay for health care executives and against cancer screenings for his constituents.

Reform Congress in a way that restores the trust of the American people; incumbent John Kline has not signed the Fight Washington Corruption Pledge.

Keep our nation secure at home and abroad. incumbent John Kline recently voted against the Department of Defense budget.

"I find it interesting that despite being in power for eight years, the GOP continues to deny their culpability in the financial crisis facing our country today. John Kline claims that 'listening and leading' is the solution to our problems, yet he rarely meets with constituents in any capacity and he refuses to publicly debate with me on the issues facing our district. Leading means standing up for our communities and building Main Street businesses, not bailing out Wall Street Banks."

Background:
Of the many candidate forum and debate opportunities offered, John Kline has committed to only one: a radio interview with Gary Eichten on Minnesota Public Radio on October 26. Mr. Kline did not show up at FarmFest in August to listen to farmers' concerns and discuss his position on their issues. He also refused an invitation from the League of Women Voters and 5 Eyewitness News to debate on October 2.
