Sept. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Back in June this year Models Direct updated readers on the latest news regarding their favourite up and coming UK band, ‘Council Estate Supermodels’ (CESM), whose continued success had just earned them a place on the notorious ‘Bestival’ line up.

We are now delighted to report back, having had the privilege of watching the new five piece CESM live act rock ‘Bestival’ goers with their exciting electro-meets-indie sound at this multi-award winning event.

Council Estate Supermodels (http://www.myspace.com/councilestatesupermodels) first came to Model Direct’s attention in 2009, not only due to their undeniable talent but also their quirky name, which cleverly reflects current industry trends and the cheeky sense of humour of the band. Having made it from humble beginnings the modest pair told us then that they believe everyone has a shot at stardom, with luck and the right attitude. “If you have the passion and drive to succeed you’re halfway there!” Jules commented when we spoke to him earlier in the year.

At this time CESM consisted of producer Jules Dent and co-producer/singer Sam Woodford who gained praise as a duo from the likes of Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Dave Spoon following releases such as ‘Travolta Fever’ and ‘Keep Smiling’. Since then an additional three members have been recruited, to create the CESM live band, and we are happy to report that Jules and Sam have chosen well.

Danny Coulson (guitar) and Danny Knoxx (drums) are both members of Sam’s other musical interest ‘Goodbye Stereo’ and the chemistry between these performers was clear on the Sailor Jerry stage at Bestival this year. Jules’ brother Jamie Dent (guitar and vocals), who is also the frontman and writer for ‘Vanzatti’ makes the perfect fifth member, with his own share of talent and charisma from the Dent gene pool. Between them this fab five deliver a solid live performance which is now in demand from promoters - with booking requests flooding in since their first ‘pre-Bestival’ live performance back in August at Wight Rock Bar, Ryde, IOW.

Council Estate Supermodels were asked to play at Bestival after their music was heard by founder of the event, and Radio 1 DJ, ‘Rob da Bank’ and they certainly delivered. The Sailor Jerry tent was full to capacity and running on a ‘one in, one out’ basis for the duration of CESM’s performance, with some of the band’s own family being forced to try to catch a glimpse from outside along with other enthusiastic onlookers and passers by. Bestival (capacity 40,000 plus) has been named ‘best medium sized festival’ four times since it’s inception in 2005. The next awards are due in November and if this year’s atmosphere was anything to go by the event could well be looking at a fifth.

As the mastermind behind Bestival, a successful DJ and founder of ‘Sunday Best Recordings’ (http://www.sundaybest.net/) Rob da Bank knows his stuff. He cherry picked some of the best musical talent, including names such as Dizzee Rascal, Hot Chip, The Flaming Lips and The XX, to appear at his event alongside less known, but equally worthy fresh talent, like CESM. In a previous interview he says, “I like supporting music early. It’s not like ‘ooh, check me out’ but it’s nice that I’ve been one of the first to play Florence And The Machine, Black Kids, Ting Tings – we had them in session a year before they were in the charts.”

It seems that the music connoisseur got it right again when he booked CESM. The band are soon to release latest track ‘Video Game’ on Rocstar recordings (owned by internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Cut la Roc) and rumour has it that their emotionally stirring track, ‘Keep Smiling’, has generated interest with Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’. Closer to home they enjoyed a fantastic write up in the Isle of Wight County press ‘Bestival supplement’, in which they are tipped as ‘the next big thing’.

The Council Estate Supermodels are the perfect inspiration for those who have talent and ambition to succeed in the music/modelling/entertainment business. Models Direct, as ever, wish them the very best of luck on their road to stardom and look forward to hearing what’s next for these enduringly down to earth and refreshingly humble lads.
