Sept. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Yesterday, The Americans Want to Work Act was blocked by Republican obstructionism. Shortly thereafter, the US Senate adjourned yet again for another 6 week break, in order to win votes for the upcoming midterm elections. This leaves 5 million Americans without the means to invest in the America’s economy, thus hindering our recovery.

The American 99’ers Union* reminds you that America’s economic system is based upon the laws of supply and demand. We now have a nation with over 5 million Americans and an additional 91,000 each month, no longer able to invest in our Country’s economy through the purchase of goods and services. How will America ever return to profitability, in turn saving American businesses and preserving the jobs of those Americans currently on the brink of joining the ranks of the unemployed? Extending unemployment insurance as The Americans Want to Work Act S.3706 provides, will allow for an immediate return on Washington’s investment by helping Americans to reinvest in America.

Seventeen Advocacy groups from all across the Country have again joined together for one specific initiative and one common cause: saving American lives while in turn rebuilding the American Economy. To this end, The American 99’ers Union* strongly urges The Americans Want to Work Act (S.3706) be signed into law on an emergency basis, immediately.

On Friday morning October 1st at 9am, our second unified campaign begins! Our collective membership will join in a faxing/emailing/calling campaign which will continue through 9pm on October 2, 2010. We will show our power and numbers, as we demand that the Senate pass S.3706 on an Emergency basis, ASAP to help the millions who are now without income and still cannot find a job in this period of record-high unemployment, in order to save Americans from homelessness and despair.

On October 02, 2010 members of The American 99’ers Union* as well tens of thousands of others will gather at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC to participate in the One Nation March. One Nation is a multi-racial, civil and human rights movement whose mission is to reorder our nation's priorities to invest in our nation's most valuable resource - our people.

There are millions of unemployed Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, all the while enduring the deafening sounds of silence coming from Washington with respect to S3706. As a result of obvious financial hardships, millions cannot afford to attend the march in Washington in person. This campaign will allow those who cannot attend, to join their voices with those marching in Washington DC.
