Dryer Vent Cleaning Sacramento Wizard Joins American Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts

Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard is showing her spirit during National Fire Prevention Month in October as she joins the local American Red Cross to raise funds for disaster relief efforts.

The largest disaster threat to residents and the number one disaster relief effort by the American Red Cross in the U.S. is fire.  According to the National Fire Prevention Association, the number of dryer fires in the U.S. has risen to over 17,000 per year, resulting in nearly $100 Million in property damages.

“One of the saddest dryer fire stories of this year was one that occurred in an animal shelter where 15 cats in cages were killed,” said Gina Fazil, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard in Sacramento.  “Animal shelters and families with multiple pets need to have dryer vent cleaning performed more often because pet hair can be as big a nuisance as dryer lint.”

The American Red Cross and the Sacramento Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard are increasing their effort during National Fire Safety Month to encourage consumers to minimize the risk of home fires by installing smoke alarms and developing a fire escape plan.

According to a representative of the local Red Cross chapter, "Fires can strike suddenly and spread quickly.   It’s important that people take simple and inexpensive steps now, such as installing a smoke alarm inside bedrooms, outside sleeping areas and on every level of their homes.  They should also create a plan of escape in case they need to leave at a moment’s notice, because during a fire every second counts and being prepared can greatly reduce the affects of these devastating disasters.”
