Oct. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- American Artist Magazine has compiled some of their most popular articles on the subject of painting and drawing the human figure into one special Fall 2010 issue which includes the work of North Carolina artist, Brian Neher.  The article emphasizes the preliminary work that goes into the making of a portrait painting, as well as showcasing examples of Neher's commissioned portraits.

Everyone has a story to tell, something to be remembered by.  A footprint of one’s life forever preserved in the sands of time.  But how do you capture the story of one’s life without writing volumes of books with which to describe them?  The answer is not found in books, but in paint.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  If so, then a well painted portrait may be priceless.

Portrait painter, Brian Neher is a modern day storyteller who speaks in a language of canvas, color and craftsmanship.  Through the use of oil paint and brushes, he is able to capture a person’s character and likeness in an emotional way which can only be described in a visual manner.

“I try to remember that first impression that I get when I first meet someone”, says Neher.  “Every person has a particular attitude and personality traits that are unique to them.””  Each portrait is as unique as the subjects themselves – one of a kind.  Each work of art is painted on the finest Belgian Linen using the highest quality oil paints available in order to ensure its permanence for future generations.

Brian’s dedication to exceptional quality in his work has propelled him to the forefront of portraiture today.  His work has been seen in American Artist magazine as well as on the national television show “Paint! Paint! Paint!”.  He has received awards from both the Portrait Institute in Manhattan, New York and the West Coast Society of Portrait Painters in Sacramento, CA.  His work can be seen in both private homes and corporate buildings throughout the United States.

After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Commercial Art from Pensacola Christian College, Brian has had the rare opportunity to study under world renowned portrait painter, Joe Bowler, for the past sixteen years.

With every painting, another story is told.  With each new portrait, another chapter begins.  A chapter which has not yet been written, but for one artist, is in the process of being painted.
