Almost most of the movies that were directed during that time would be intended to those epics. The first Hindi film was based on the classic epic Harishchandra. Dada Saheb Phalke produced this movie and it became very famous in that it sold almost four reels in both Hindi and English. Raja Harishchandra was a blockbuster movie yielding great results to the producer. After this, several attempts were made to produce Hindi movies. Kalidaman and Ghar ki Lakshmi were other famous movies.
