Follow on Google News | Science educators can get free copies of Extreme Science brochure for kidsA free resource for science educators is available from Montana State University
By: MSU Extended University The piece includes a fun career quiz for kids along with profiles of three Montana State University students who are doing research in extreme environments like Yellowstone National Park and other wilderness areas. The purpose of the piece is to encourage kids--especially girls--to consider studies and careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, math). The brochure also helps kids understand that not all scientific research takes place in a lab; some of it occurs outdoors where students' work can help fight cancer, clean up pollution, find new energy sources, and even search for life on other planets. For 30 free copies of "Is a Career in Extreme Science for You?" email Jamie Cornish at jcornish@montana.edu with your name, address, school or informal education institution, age of kids you work with, and how many copies (up to 30) you would like. The brochure was created by Montana NSF EPSCoR, MSU Extended University, and the NASA Astrobiology Biogeocatalysis Research Center. # # # Montana State University's Extended University offers workforce training and professional development, science education and public outreach, educational technologies and distance learning courses, degrees and certificates via Montana State Online.
