Bossier City Resident to Sing “God Bless America” at Game 5 of The World Series

Oct. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Mrs. Mollie Walton Corbett of Shreveport-Bossier will perform for the 2010 Major League Baseball ALCS Champs -The Texas Rangers - “God Bless America” in the 7th-inning stretch in game 5 of The World Series in Texas Rangers’ stadium. The November 1st, 2010, performance will be viewed by millions nationwide.

“This is by far my most proud vocal accomplishment to date,” says Corbett. “Representing the men and women of the armed forces by singing "God Bless America" for Major League Baseball's World Series is truly an unparalleled honor for me.  I am a proud Air Force spouse, a Navy daughter, a Navy sister, a Marine Corps niece, and a Navy granddaughter. It is truly an honor to represent the brave men and women and their families who make great sacrifices to serve this wonderful country of ours and a privilege to honor them through song.”

This is not Corbett’s first time singing patriotic anthems for sports venues as she was honored to perform the National Anthem three times in 2002 and 2003 at Harbor Park for the Norfolk Tides; the New York Mets' AAA farm team in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, she has starred in musicals and stage performances for large audiences with touring ensembles and college choirs while pursuing a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Music.

Corbett served as the Music Director for a congregation in Chesapeake, Virginia, and led a team of musicians and singers as a Worship minister. She also performed special music as a soloist/guitarist while pursuing a master's degree in Theology.

She is married to TSgt Charles Corbett, an award-winning recruiter in The United States Air Force, and has a three-year-old son named Jackson.
