Author Refuses To Promote His Books

Askin Ozcan , a new popular author, says, " writer's job is to write and promoting the books should belong to the publishers".

Oct. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- There are mainly two different kinds of publishers : One, offset publishers who  print the books and sell afterwards,  both at the bookstores and  at the internet bookshops. These publishers use the offset techniques, which seem to be most economical for 100.000 copies and over.  They give the books on credit to the bookstores and get paid if the books are sold. Unsold books are returned to the publishers. They also devote considerable time and investment in promoting the books in various media.
The second kind of publishers are called "Digital publishers" or " P.O.D. (Print On Demand) publishers, who, owing to the advanced techniques of computers, produce digitally printed books and do not need to print excessive amount of copies and store them. They print a limited amount of copies, distribute them to the internet bookshops only. They do not sell via bookstores on credit. As the books are sold via internet bookshops, they print new ones very fast, by the virtue of the new digital printing techniques. The books never run out of print and there are no unsold books either, which are a very heavy financial burden for the publishers.
But, the P.O.D. publishers do not promote the books they publish. They expect the authors promote their own books. This is of course a big set-back in an author's life, as the authors
prefer to write rather than engage themselves in "promoting" their books.
P.O.D. publishers have come out to the market in the last fifteen  years and have taken about 40% of the market from the classical publishers who print by offset and sell via bookstores.
Askin Ozcan is an author of six books in different genres, all published as P.O.D. His publishers have produced fantastic prints and placed the books on 200 internet bookshops, but not on the shelves of the bookstores. It is up to author Askin Ozcan, to promote his books, which he did until now, as much as he could, sacrificing from his valuable "writing-time". But, now he protests and says " Promoting the books must belong
to the publishers. Authors must write. " And he is looking for classical publishers to re-publish his books, distribute them also to the bookstores and promote the books.
He has already signed contract with Prakash Books of India, a leading publisher, who will publish two of Askin Ozcan's books for sales in India and eventually worldwide. Askin Ozcan hopes Prakash Books will re-publish his other books, too, later and he can concentrate himself on "writing".
Askin Ozcan's books are sold so far on 200 internet bookshops including www.amazon.com (and on all amazons) ,  www.bn.com , www.infibeam.com, www.flipkart.com , www.adlibris.com , www.capris.no , www.fishpond.com.au, www.loot.co.za and can be ordered at 25.000 bookstores by giving their ISBN.
