Chef Mark Garcia Named One Of The Most Influential People Online

Social Media Project Highlights How A Chef Who Doesn't Have A Cooking Show On National TV Has Become One Of The Most Influential People Online

Nov. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Sometimes it's not who you know, but who knows YOU.

And in the new world of Social Meda, that saying can definitely prove true, as indicated by the success of Fast Company Magazine's  (www.fastcompany.com/influence) recent Influence Project.  The goal was to find the most influential people online right now and the results are available in the November 2010 edition with Lance Armstrong on the cover. The project goal was to measure a person's influence amongst their peers and fans.

"Talent, drive, and determination aren't enough to propel you toward success in the Social Media space," says Chef Mark Garcia. "Since the medium is just now emerging from it's infancy, the measurements of success are fluid and change often. Tracking and measuring success through fan counts, profile views, blog comments, and re-tweets are all good starting points."

Chef Garcia was nominated for Fast Company's Influence Project earlier in the year and out of the 32,000 people that appeared on the list, Chef Mark reached the top 15% on this list which also included NBA Basketball player and future hall of famer, Shaquille O'Neal.

"While I may not agree with all of the parameters of how participants were judged for social media influence, I do respect Fast Company for highlighting this new phenomena in a way that garners attention to the subject. I am extremely honored to be highlighted in the magazine."
