“Live trees can also be a fire hazard,” said Chesney.  “Live trees will burn quickly, filling a home with fire and deadly gases.  Be sure to select a fresh tree for your home.  Needles should be green and hard to bend or break.  The trunk should be sticky.  If the tree was cut too long ago the needles will be falling off and the trunk will be dry; this is a fire hazard.”
