Mahalia, singer-songwriter on “Take A Minute,” recently shared details on the inspiration behind the record. “I was inspired to paint a vivid lyrical account of two persons living with HIV/AIDS, with the hope that it will motivate fans—wherever they are in the world—to respond caringly to those infected and affected by the disease,” she said. Mahalia also noted the musical support NexCyx received on the record. “There is an amazing pool of musical minds behind “Take A Minute.” That is exactly what the song deserved—some of the best talent paying tribute to a special group of people fighting against HIV/AIDS worldwide,” she said. The track was produced by the band’s keyboardist, André Clarke and engineered by Fabian “Minim” Worrell—both from Barbados. It is also a successful collaboration of mixing by Rich Isaac, mastering by Will Quinnell and a string ensemble arranged, recorded and produced by Christian Howes, Asssociate Professor at Berklee College of Music. The release of “Take A Minute” will be complemented by a radio tour, featuring band appearances at major stations on World AIDS Day. The song is part of NexCyx’ new EP, which is scheduled for a 2011 release. About Nexcyx NexCyx is a four-member band based in Barbados.
