Former PGA Tour Player New Director of Golf For Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club

Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club Names Former PGA Tour Player and All-American Craig Perks as Director of Golf.

Dec. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Native New Zealander Craig Perks, former PGA Tour player and 2002 winner of the prestigious Players Championship, today was promoted to director of golf at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club. The 2002 New Zealand Sportsman of the Year and All-American at both the University of Oklahoma and the University of Louisiana Lafayette (UL Lafayette) retired and joined Le Triomphe full time in 2008 after 15 years on the professional tour, eight of those as PGA Tour player.
The Cajun Kiwi (his email moniker), also a member of  UL Lafayette’s Athletic Hall of Fame, chose Louisiana as his home base for the past two decades and Le Triomphe as his course where he has worked when not touring since his college days, most recently as director of instruction focusing on the combined benefits of golf instruction and fitness.
“We believe Craig Perks is a terrific fit for Le Triomphe as our new director of golf, given his PGA Tour experience and stature in the golfing world,” says Le Triomphe General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, Dawna Waterbury. “His goals, philosophy and reputation here locally and on the tour are in line with our ongoing commitment to provide excellence and outstanding service to all our members and their guests.
Perks 2002 win at the most prestigious individual tournament in men's world golf after the majors, the Players Championship win at TPC Sawgrass  consisted of  two chip-ins including one on the famed 17th hole Island Green and a 30-ft birdie putt on the 18th and is  considered one of the greatest finishes in golf history.  His 3-hole finale is frequently featured in top ten lists on golf programming highlights, such as the Golf Channel where Perks is also a contributing commentator.
“I’ve had the benefit of playing on and at golf’s finest courses and establishments around the world, and am passionate about the opportunity to build upon the great reputation of Le Triomphe.” says Perks. “I can’t wait to bring some of my own personal experiences of friendliness and excellent service I received on tour to Le Triomphe and to the local golfing community. I look forward to giving back to this wonderful area which has been so supportive of me throughout my career,” says Perks.
