Coaches had been evaluated since the summer based on team performance on the field, in the classroom, and within the community. Last season, the Maxwell Award went to Colt McCoy of the University of Texas while the Bednarik Award went to Ndamukong Suh of the University of Nebraska. "Reds" Bagnell Award for contributions to the game of football. In March 2003, he was additionally appointed President of ABC Sports, and, one year later, was named co-chairman for Disney Media Networks.
