Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Members who earn cashback on their internet shopping have the option to donate some or all of their money to one of the charities listed on the website. Top Cashback was one of the first cashback websites to instigate a charity donations scheme which has now been running for three years. There are currently 220 charities to chose from ranging from large national and international organisations to smaller local community charities.
Charities are added to the list if a TopCashBack member makes a request, so that they can make a donation through TopCashBack. Alternatively some charities directly approach the website. However charities can only be listed if they are registered with the Charity Commission.
Providing the opportunity to donate to charity has proved successful. In the past 12 months alone, just over £10,000 has been donated*. Although people are looking to make savings on their shopping, they are not necessarily choosing to keep the financial benefits to themselves.
The number one beneficiary of this generosity is Cancer Research UK who have received donations from 620 TopCashBack members. In total, these members have donated just over £2,000. The next most popular charities on the Top Cashback website include: NSPCC, Water Aid, Disasters Emergencies and Help for Heroes. Top Cashback members have donated just under £5,300 to these charities
The reasons people give to charity can be many and varied; some have been personally affected by the work of a certain charity, others are moved by what a charity stands for and some simply have a soft spot for those less well off and in need of support.
Duncan Robb of Top Cashback commented: “It's good to see the spirit of goodwill is alive and well and that our members have such big hearts. The option to donate to charity is always available and even when times are tough and people are trying to find ways to save a few pounds on their shopping, they can still think of others.”

TopCashBack is the UK’s most generous and biggest free to use cashback website.  Retailers pay a referral commission for any purchase made on their website via topcashback.co.uk but rather than keep this commission, Top CashBack passes 100% straight back to the customer as ‘cashback’.  TopCashBack is funded by sponsored adverts across the site.  The basic aim is to help each and every UK resident to save as much money as possible on their online shopping.  Established in 2005 TopCashBack has an ethos of ‘fair play’ and has gone from strength-to-strength with a member base now approaching ¾ million.
