Follow on Google News | WakeMed Adds Three New Physician Practices, 13 New Physicians, Three Physician ExtendersWakeMed Health & Hospitals is pleased to announce the addition of three new practices and 13 physicians to its growing Physician Practices division.
By: WakeMed Health & Hospitals “Many of our communities in Wake County lack access to primary care services. These primary care physicians and practices joining the WakeMed family are enhancing access in communities where there continues to be significant growth,” commented Dr. Susan Weaver, senior vice president of Medical Affairs & Physician Practices. Weaver continued, “WakeMed is also the state’s leading provider of cardiac services. Linking cardiology practices closer to the WakeMed Heart Center is a win for patients in our community because direct relationships between cardiologists and hospitals allow for better coordination of patient care.” On March 1, Carolina Cardiology Consultants will join as Carolina Cardiology-WakeMed Faculty Physicians. This practice features nine full-time cardiology specialists, including non-invasive cardiology, invasive cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, vascular, and a physician extender. With three offices located throughout the Triangle (Raleigh, North Raleigh and Garner), Carolina Cardiology will continue to practice from all existing sites and will now be aligned with WakeMed’s regionally-renowned Heart Center. WakeMed will also assume ownership of Carolina Cardiology Consultants’ Jack Newman, MD, with North Wake Cardiovascular Center, also recently joined Raleigh Cardiology-WakeMed Faculty Physicians. His office is located in the WakeMed North Healthplex Physicians Office Pavilion and serves as the only full-time cardiology specialty practice located in North Raleigh. With this new relationship, the existing providers at Raleigh Cardiology, an eight provider practice that joined WakeMed in October, will begin practicing at this location on a rotating basis further enhancing the specialty offerings in the northern portion of Wake County. With the addition of the new cardiology practices, WakeMed Faculty Physicians’ cardiology practices feature 17 physicians and three physician extenders. Expanding WakeMed’s primary care network, Holly Springs Medical Center’s two physicians and two physician extenders will join WakeMed as Holly Springs Medical Group-Wake Specialty Physicians on February 1. WakeMed will lease 7,600 square feet of the Holly Springs Medical Center, an existing facility located at 500 Holly Springs Road, which features an internal medicine practice, imaging services including a CT scan, x-ray and bone density scanner, and a full-service laboratory. With this agreement, WakeMed will begin managing operations for the imaging and laboratory services. This is the fourth primary care practice established by WakeMed Physician Practices in the past two years to serve the growing health care needs of the community. Wake Specialty Physicians – City Center Medical Group also expands this month as two new physicians join Mary Forbes, MD, in Raleigh’s only downtown internal medicine practice. Theresa Amerson, MD, joins January 17 as a full-time physician and Susan Weaver, MD, senior vice president of Medical Affairs and WakeMed Physician Practices, will join as a part-time physician. # # # About Wake Physician Practices Wake Specialty Physicians and WakeMed Faculty Physicians are multi-specialty groups owned by WakeMed Health & Hospitals.
