Jan. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- At last guys, one of the most anticipated speeches of the CES 2011 has got underway. Yes we are talking about the big red Verizon. Over at Engadget they have been following the event as it happens and are keen to share with the rest of us what the details are.

Verizon’s event kicked off on the dot at 4.00 pm and after running slightly behind schedule, they took to the floor at approximately 4.10 pm this afternoon. Executives Dan Mead, Tony Melone and Marnia Walden made a bold entrance onto the stage to begin one of the most important speeches of the whole event. For the last three years as Engadget stated, the emphasis has been on offering 4G LTE for all consumers, as it was noted the key factors surrounding this: network, applications, devices and software in that order. In what seemed from the pictures sourced via the link above, topics in the form of a brain storming diagram projected to the audience included Skype, LTE’s Innovation Center, Partners, Verizon Developer Community, LTE Applications Developer Center and Google all centered around Verizon.

Information sourced from the event included an Innovation Center to be opened in San Francisco and a huge thank you it seemed went out to Google, Motorola, Skype, EA, LG and a few more. At 4.15 pm, President of Blueglass Wireless “Ron Smith,” spoke of the benefits of having LTE in more rural areas and not just the bigger cities, and the emphasis to provide a larger broadband service. Three services will be offering this concept, Blueglass being one, the other two have not been announced. As well as this, NVIDIA’s and Samsung’s CEO’s passed through onto the stage with the latter showing off a Samsung-branded LTE handset.
Tony Malone then took to the stage to talk about positive customer feedback, and amongst other things, he promised that in 36 months, Verizon will have taken over two-thirds of the population of America. This led on to all three executives on the stage and talk of four smartphones, two tablets, two mobile hotspots and two laptops. Mentioned were the Motorola Xoom, Galaxy Tab, HTC Thunderbolt and an unnamed Samsung 4G LTE phone with super AMOLED plus display, all to be available by the middle of this year.
