Roofers delay new roofs due to snow in Charlotte North Carolina

Significant snow and ice delays new roofs in the Charlotte area.

Jan. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Charlotte area roofers delayed installing new roofs, this week, due to the snow and ice. This time of year is not the best time to install roofs, because of the cold weather and the instability of the weather.

We don't want our roofers in danger, on top of roofs when it's icy.  Shingles also do not respond well to extreme, cold weather.

There have been several cases of roof damage, during this time of extremely cold weather. A fire broke out at the Brandywinde Condos on January 10th around 5:15pm. The roof of the building collapsed,  and the entire unit was in flames, but everyone made it out of the building safely.

In Indian Trail the roof of the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue center collapsed due to snow. The rescue center cares for more than 100 birds, and some were injured badly.

You can still have an insurance company check out any roof damage and give you an estimate on what they will cover. If it's not safe to install a roof in the next few days, the roofing company will do a quick repair to keep your house safe, while you are waiting on a new roof.

Many of the Charlotte roofing companies have seen a decrease in new roofs in the last 12 months because of the depressed economy, but are hoping in 2011 for increased business.  Premium shingles are not used as much, but insurance related roofing claims are still being filled.
