The Lampe Family of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Gets the WOW Effect

Jan. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The Creative Works’ Theme Factory was commissioned in October of 2010 to work with the team at ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition show for a family near Louisville, KY. The Lampe family was chosen based on their need and community involvement. After struggling with severe water damage to their home that was unfixable as well as the struggles they faced in their business and injuries incurred, this family was embraced by the community and the Extreme Makeover show to turn things around.

As a family that worked outdoors and in nature because of their business, the designers of the show came to Creative Works to craft twin beds for the two older girls to resemble birds’ nests. The Theme Team’s experience in building and making props over the years was a huge asset when thinking outside of the box to create these very unique pieces that became the centerpiece of the Lampe girls’ bedroom. “We built these nests in less than a week after we got notified of our involvement in the show. It was nothing like we’ve done before,” said Jeff Schilling, the Chief Architect of Experiences at Creative Works. “Our team rallied together for a great cause and put in numerous hours into what became a labor of love. Giving back with our time, talents and treasures to make a difference around us is one of our core values here at the Theme Factory and we’re glad we had the opportunity to provide something special to a deserving family.”

ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition focuses on rallying a community behind a family in need. When the crew from Creative Works arrived to install the beds into the home, hundreds of volunteers were there to support this special family and to help rebuild a home and help them get a fresh start. After twelve hours, all of the 800 plus branches and sticks to craft the beds into the nest shapes were successfully installed. It was a great look inside the nature inspired room. The Lead Design Producer for the show, Jowill Leano, had this to say about Creative Works, “The collaboration I had with the Creative Works Team was so instant - I have nothing but amazing things to say about everyone I met from their company.”
