Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference to Present Renewable Energy Achievements

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Eilat, Israel (February 3, 2011) – The organizers of the 4th International Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Conference & Exhibition today announced that one of the central discussions throughout the conference will focus on the progress of renewable energy projects in Israel.

On the opening day of the conference, the progress of renewable energy projects in Israel will be highlighted in the main plenary session titled Do We See the Light? - The Chances of Meeting Israeli Government Renewable Energy Goals.

This plenary session will be chaired by Dr. Eaitan Yudilevich, Executive Director of the BIRD Foundation, and include participation from senior executives from numerous government ministries and senior economic advisors to the Israeli government.

The achievements that will be announced relate to the government mandated targets in Israel for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing substitutes for oil in order to remove dependencies on fossil fuels. Updates will also be provided on the status of solar tenders and solar zoning initiatives.

The details of a recently approved $400m government-sponsored program for promoting the development of alternative fuel sources in Israel as well as a $15.5m joint investment between the Israeli government and private investors from the Capital Nature Ventures to open a technology development center in the Arava will be announced.

This plenary session will include a discussion on the role the Israeli government in creating incentives for renewable energy projects including subsidies for suppliers of renewable energy. The session will also include a debate on if investment assistance programs that were successful in the information and communication technology sectors can be applied to the development of cleantech technologies.
