Lower Back Pains Relief Found with Exercises by San Diego Movement Expert Margie Murnan

Lower back pains are often the result of the way people move their body. San Diego Anat Baniel Method Practitioner Margie Murnan, teaches low back pain sufferers movement lessons that lead to lasting, pain free results.

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- All of our movements from the movement of our bodies to the movement of our thoughts and feelings are organized by our brains.

Margie Murnan, San Diego's premier movement specialist works with: working professionals, baby boomers, senior citizens, musicians, athletes, and even small children who suffer from lower back, shoulder, neck, hip and other kinds of pain.

Murnan shares that often low back pains are the result of the way people move their body.  It has to do with movement patterns, and these movement patterns issue from the brain.

The long-term solution is to be found not with the muscles and joints themselves, but by changing the habitual pain causing patterns the brain has learned. Most people's current movement patterns create stresses in the muscles and joints and lead to pain.  The good news is that current research has confirmed that our brains can change and make new thought patterns that guide our movement so we are pain free.

Murnan works with San Diegan's in private movement sessions where she teaches new movement techniques. She guides her students through these movements that will give their brain the information needed to create new patterns.  These new patterns in the brain will organize the body to move in pain-free ways.

Margie states these new movement patterns have many benefits.  They will not only eliminate your pain, but you will be stronger, more flexible will feel more vital having more energy over all.

Murnan sites  "People who suffer from low back pain have a tendency to pull in the belly and hold it tight. This pulling in restricts movement, and although many people have been taught over the years to do this in an effort to avoid pain in the lower back over time, it can actually add to lower back pain and lead to pain in other areas."

She says:  This pulling in of the belly can be useful in the short term, but if you are seeking a long-term life enhancing solutions, it is important to understand that this pattern of restriction changes the movement patterns in the brain.  Ultimately, this restriction creates a host of new problems.  We cannot mobilize our lower back by pulling in the belly. This holding in the belly greatly restricts movement and our pelvis, our back, chest and even our neck.  All of these areas can become tighter and create more pain.

In her private classes Murnan teaches her students that the center of the body is the greatest source of muscular power, coming not from just the abdomen, but from all the muscles attached to the pelvis.  When we immobilize this area by tightening the belly, we not only weaken ourselves greatly, but we also lose flexibility, restrict our breathing, accelerates aging, and we settle for a limited version of ourselves.  And we still are not solving the original back pain problem!

Brain research shows that we can change the movement patterns of our brains very quickly.  Movement, when it is rich, varied, gentle and done with a lot of attention and awareness - is the language through which our brains wake up.  We are able to gather new information on how to move and problem solve.  Contrary to that, when we restrict our movements to avoid pain we deny ourselves the opportunity for brains to find better more sophisticated life-giving, long-term solutions.

People who have been suffering from lower back pain turn to movement lessons offered by Margie Murnan.  Murnan is San Diego's first certified Anat Baniel Method Practitioner. She teaches the Anat Baniel Method of Movement.

Some key points that her students learn are:
Movement with attention
Gentle movement
Varied movement

Margie recalls a client who had Sciatic Pain for many years was relieved of pain after only 1 movement session.  The pain was related to her freezing her shoulders among other things.  After making her aware of the pain-causing patterns the client had a habit of doing, the client was able to do things differently and prevent the pain from re-occurring.

Back injuries create many pain-causing patterns that don't go away without some new input to the brain.  As soon as someone is shown or reminded of new possibilities for movement the old patterns can go away and healing can take place.

Many people think they will never be able to do things they love doing because they are "guarding" their back.  It is wonderful to see people regain mobility and once again be able to enjoy doing the activities they love.
