By: Miss Orlando Scholarship Pageant women competed for the titles of Miss Orlando, Miss Orange County and Miss Orlando’s Outstanding Teen 2011. They competed for more than $26,000 in scholarships and $20,000 in prizes! Three of those amazing young woman walked away with more than $17,000 in scholarships and the coveted crowns. Miss Orlando 2011, Ashley Ramsey, a student at USF, was awarded an $8,000 scholarship and won Overall Talent, Overall Swimsuit and was recognized for her exemplary contribution in the area of community service and was awarded the Gracia B. Livingston Community Service Award and a $2,500 scholarship. Ashley won a total of $10,500 in education scholarships. Brittany Hagan won the title of Miss Orange County and $3,500 in scholarships and was the Overall Interview winner. Sixteen year old high school student, Elizabeth Fechtel was crowned Miss Orlando’s Outstanding Teen and received a $2,500 scholarship. She was also awarded a $1,000 scholarship and the Mary B. Wheaton Pageantry award and was the teen Overall Interview Winner. All three ladies will represent our beautiful city at the Miss Florida pageant on July 9th in St. Petersburg, Florida. Their triumphant walk across the stage was just the beginning of a journey that will take them to every corner of the state during their year of service.
