How to apply Frontline Plus? (An important note)

Take the applicator out from the pack.
The applicator is packed in such a way that it is child resistant.
Always hold on the applicator upwards.
Take away the tip from your body.
The tip of applicator should be placed on the skin between the shoulder blades.
Apply the contents of applicator in one go on to the dog’s skin.

Dosage:
Dogs or puppies: Upto 22 lbs: 1 applicator a month
The applicator is of 0.67 ml
23-44 lbs:  Apply contents of 1 applicator once a month
The applicator is of 1.34 ml.
45-88 lbs: Apply contents of 1 applicator once a month
The applicator is of 2.68 ml.
89-132 lbs:  Apply contents of 1 applicator once a month.
The applicator is of month 4.02 ml.

How Frontline Plus works?
When it is applied, it starts working right there and assures to kill the fleas in just a day. It is a fast acting agent, waterproof – stays effective even after the bath or swim or even in sunlight.
Mainly it acts on flea life cycle so as to prevent future flea and tick infestations.
Fipronil blocks the chloride channels and attack insect’s nervous system.
S-Methoprene on the other hand is nothing but a hormone which regulates many aspects of the insect’s body. It normally regulates growth in insects.

Some things to take care of:
Actually, Fleas and ticks are insects; hence they do carry lot of disease causing factors as in bacteria or viruses. Sometimes fleas can be a carrier of worms. Fleas and worms can enter premises once they are infested on pets.

The fleas and ticks that get infested on pets are normally the adult fleas. They almost complete their life cycle on pets to produce eggs, larva and pupa.

So proper care should be taken so that all kind of fleas and ticks are killed. Sometimes, it happens that only adult fleas are killed and so there is a chance of getting the eggs and larva again infested on pets and they enter the premises.

Since both fleas and ticks are blood sucking parasites, they can cause anemia due to much loss of blood. They leave in some kind of saliva secretions on the pet’s body which may causes too much of itching and hence leading to dermatitis.

Ticks are known for the carrying the diseases from one source to another for e.g. Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease etc.

Frequency of Application:

Suggested dose is once a month.
But when the pet is infested by fleas and ticks, it is advisable to use the product once a month, since fleas need to be eradicated completely.
Once it is assured that pets are no more having any infection, for a safety purpose we can use frontline plus on pets every three months.
