Feb. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island  - While the practice of leadership is neutral, often for multicultural women the perceptions of their abilities are not. Many multicultural women in the workplace are first-generation college graduates often unequipped with the knowledge of career advancement in a complex, corporate workplace. In addition, they may find themselves saddled with cultural expectations about their roles and have multi-generational family responsibilities and commitments.

Anecdotal evidence shows many leadership development programs underemphasize aspects important for multicultural women and, as a result, the strategies chosen work against their career goals. Therefore, many talented multicultural women “hit a ceiling or a wall’ and are left wondering what went wrong.

Leading Women, an international organization that inspires, powers, and honors the success of women leaders, today announced introduction of a new program to debut this summer called “No Ceiling, No Walls: Executive Leadership Preparation for Multicultural Women.” The program is designed to guide multicultural women to top decision making positions in their organization. Participants will learn secrets and strategies to operate at the top of their game, leverage strengths of women from other cultures, learn about the missing 33% that holds most women back, and speak the language of power without losing cultural identity.

“This program is designed specifically for multicultural women who are in the pipeline for future C-suite positions,” said Susan Colantuono, chief executive officer and founder of Leading Women. “If you have been identified as top talent or high potential and appear on succession lists for potential executive positions, this program is ideal for you.”

Led by field experts Dr. Beverly Edgehill, president and chief executive officer of The Partnership and Susan L. Colantuono, chief executive officer and founder of Leading Women and founder of the Women's Institute for Leadership at Bryant University, participants will receive a two-day intensive examining leadership strengths and areas for development. The training includes 360 Leadership Excellence Assessment, leading edge research, peer coaching, action learning, interactive and experiential activities, four small-group coaching calls and a Capstone meeting in late fall.
