~ Breast Cancer Doc with Global Stars now on VOD with WB and DVD ~

Feb. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- February 25, 2011: More than 465,000 women die each year from breast cancer – a staggering number that translates to one death every 69 seconds. In charity partnership with several non-profits (hand-picked by the Celebs themselves), UniGlobe Entertainment’s feature 1 a Minute, a breast cancer docudrama by Namrata Singh Gujral, releases on DVD with major support from Warner Bros as a VOD release in almost 100 million homes in the USA. The film premiered in almost 600 theaters in the USA in 2010. It is the largest theatrical release for a cancer doc in the history of cinema. The film will also release in various countries internationally in 2011 to raise awareness for women’s cancers with a focus on breast cancer.

The film stars internationally celebrated women from various nations and backgrounds who are also survivors like Olivia Newton-John (Grease), Jaclyn Smith (Charlie’s Angels), Melissa Etheridge (An Inconvenient Truth), Diahann Carroll (Claudine), Lisa Ray (Water / Bollywood Hollywood), Namrata Singh Gujral  (Americanizing Shelley / Kaante), Barbara Mori (La Mujer de Mi Hermano / Kites) and Mumtaz (Hare Rama Hare Krishna / Khilona). The film also stars brothers Billy Baldwin (Backdraft / Parenthood) and Danny Baldwin (VAMPIRE$), whose mother is a survivor and finally Priya Dutt, whose mother, the famous Bollywood star Nargis Dutt, died of cancer.

The doc also covers interviews with top Western Oncologists such as Dr. Dennis Slamon whose research led to the revolutionary drug Herceptin, top Eastern medicine practitioners such  as Dr. Deepak Chopra as well as experts Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker (Founder: Susan G. Komen for the Cure) and more.

Narrated by Kelly McGillis (Top Gun), "1 a Minute" is an unprecedented push by global celebrity women, who are also cancer survivors, to help raise funds to find the cures, promote awareness and prevention as well as support survivors of women's cancers. The film follows a woman's journey through cancer with a focus on Breast Cancer, the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women worldwide. At each stage of her journey, our stars jump in and recount their experiences at that point in time. The film is a hybrid between narrative structure and documentary style with interweaves throughout the picture.
