By: Oliver Ewbank As well as new names - Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary 1 - both programmes have a number of new features which have been developed in conjunction with our customers around the world. These include: - A new English as a second language curriculum to complement the existing curriculum frameworks for English, Maths and Science - A new Cambridge Primary Checkpoint test which gives comprehensive feedback on a learner's strengths and weaknesses in the key curriculum areas at the end of primary education. - Cambridge Progression Tests from stage 3 to stage 9 inclusive - New curriculum frameworks for Science for stages 1 and 2, giving an introduction to this key subject for younger learners - An extensive teacher support package including new Teacher Guides, online analysis tool, ideas and guidance for incorporating ICT within teaching and new training modules. The programme means that schools now have curriculum frameworks for English, English as a second language, Mathematics and Science from stage 1 to stage 9. There are accompanying Progression Tests for stage 3 to stage 9 which teachers can download for use as and when required. Both Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary 1 also now have an optional end of stage externally marked test - Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and Cambridge Checkpoint. These are diagnostics tests which help students learn by providing comprehensive feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. Both tests provide a Statement of Achievement for learners. Ann Puntis, Chief Executive, University of Cambridge International Examinations, said: 'Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary 1 engage learners in an active and creative learning journey. Cambridge helps schools develop confident, responsible, innovative and creative learners and offers unrivalled support for teachers. In redeveloping the programmes we have taken care to ensure they retain their flexibility, giving a framework for teaching with integrated assessment which can be used around the world.' Over the coming months we will be rolling out extensive support to schools including Teacher Guides and online training. New websites and a new online analysis tool (called Cambridge Progress Checker) will be launched in September, and more besides. For more information please visit http://www.cie.org.uk/ End
