By: Dolphin Cove Limited Dolphin Cove, which recently expanded their operations to Lucea, Hanover, prides itself on being innovative and is always looking to the future according to President and Chairman, Stafford Burrowes, O.D. “We have always looked to the future and recognised that Jamaica’s tourism industry is growing. The rate of growth has slowed down since the recession to some extent, but as the Honourable Minister Ed Bartlett has pointed out, it is poised to grow extensively. Essentially we want to be in a position to deal with all the opportunities that are coming along.” Burrowes recognised that people who visited Dolphin Cove wanted to have more than an experience with the dolphins. The product offering was diversified and visitors are now able to interact with sharks, stingrays and a host of exotic animals on the Nature Trail. “When we expanded with the new lagoon we considered what else we could do. We came up with a boardwalk and a Pirates Village. We created what we call Little Port Royal, using our own Jamaican history for inspiration,” The new park in Lucea, called Dolphin Cove Negril, sits on 23 acres and is the largest natural dolphin lagoon in the world. It offers the same dolphin programmes as its sister property in Ocho Rios as well as snorkeling with stingrays, camel rides, shark shows and a petting tank of exotic sea creatures. With more product offerings in the pipeline, Burrowes says it will be more than a marine attraction. “It will be a once in a lifetime experience.” Completing the Dolphin Cove experience is the Prospect Plantation Estate which offers a tour that highlights Jamaica’s history and culture of yesteryear and recreates the past with camel rides and ostrich feeding. The winners of Caribbean & The Americas World Travel Awards will be announced at the annual Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony to be held this year in Montego Bay on 11th May. # # # Dolphin Cove is Jamaica’s Number One marine attraction where visitors are sure to have an “Experience of a Lifetime” swimming with dolphins and other exotic marine life.
