The Lake Norman Orchestra to perform with Guest Soprano, Leslie Caddick

March 28, 2011 - PRLog -- The Lake Norman Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño, will present its spring concert entitled “A Springtime Bouquet” with musical selections from well-known composers such as Wagner, Sibelius, Strauss and Leonard Bernstein on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. This family-friendly event will be performed at the Charles Mack Citizen Center , 215 N. Main St., Mooresville, NC.

As the flowers of spring announce the change in seasons, this program will burst forth with “new life” as the musical notes of the bouquet take flight.  Like springtime, the bouquet sparkles with beauty and explodes into blossoms of love, as the emotional melodies of Bernstein's "West Side Story" come to life.  

The bouquet would be incomplete, if it did not include the joy of laughter, as the words and melody of the “Laughing Song,” " Mein Herr Marquis," by Johann Strauss, echo within the auditorium by special guest, soprano Leslie Caddick.  A senior at Gaston Day School in Gaston County, Leslie has studied voice for nine years. She is a second place winner in the NATS State competition and will compete in the mid-Atlantic regional competition this spring. She is also a finalist in the upcoming State National Federation of Music Clubs vocal competition.

Ms. Caddick has performed on community stages since she was very young, with roles including Tessie and later, as Grace in “Annie” and most recently as Johanna in Gaston Day School's production of “Sweeney Todd.”  She is a past winner of the Gaston County Music Educator's Vocal Scholarship and she is a three time recipient of Gaston Day School's Outstanding Drama Award. Leslie plans to major in Musical Theatre in the fall and she has been accepted at Shenandoah University and Conservatory of Music.  The daughter of Dr. William Caddick and Kim Caddick of Gastonia, Leslie currently studies with Mrs. Linda Suda at Gaston School of the Arts in Gastonia.

The Lake Norman Orchestra, a not-for-profit community organization, welcomes all volunteers who desire to improve their musicianship, share their talent with their peers and provide quality entertainment throughout the Piedmont region of North Carolina. The LKNO performs several concerts throughout the year at numerous venues in the Lake Norman area. Eduardo M. Cedeño has performed as a conductor, soloist and collaborative artist in the United States, Europe, and South America. As a founding member of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, Director and Conductor of the Merida Symphony Orchestra and as a Founding Member of the Philharmonic Choral Group of Caracas, Venezuela, he has worked with the founder of El Sistema and the Orquesta Nacional Juvenil de Venezuela. Cedeño has collaborated with numerous performing organizations including the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Opera, and Charlotte Civic Orchestra; UNCC Opera and Carolina Voices, as well as various orchestras in Caracas, Venezuela. In addition to conducting the Lake Norman Orchestra, Cedeño presently serves as Adjunct Music Faculty at Mitchell Community College in Statesville, and Music Director at Community School of Davidson High School in Davidson, NC.  Website: www.eduardocedeno.net


Gaston School of the Arts' mission is to provide quality, affordable arts instruction in music, art and drama for children and adults in Gaston County, North Carolina and the surrounding area. GSOA is a non-profit organization and an affiliate receiving funds from Gaston Arts Council. The School's children's theatre, GSOA Playhouse was founded in 2000 to give local young people performance and educational opportunities in all the theatre arts. GSOA is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors.
