March 29, 2011 - PRLog -- DALLAS, Texas -- The Beltz Law Firm, a Dallas-area law practice specializing in criminal defense, personal injury and traffic ticket cases, has announced its ability to help Texas residents obtain occupational driver's licenses. These are temporary, restricted licenses issued by the Texas courts that allow individuals whose licenses have been suspended to drive in instances related to employment, education and essential household duties.

"We're seeing an increased number of cases where individuals are getting their licenses suspended or revoked," said Jeffrey Beltz, founder and partner of The Beltz Law Firm.

"The first thing we tell them is that it's not the end of the world and that there are options available," he added.

A suspended license can occur for a variety of reasons and The Beltz Law Firm offers the following tips for those who are in need of having it re-instated:

1. If a license is suspended as a result of a DWI offense, individuals may be required to have an interlock breath device on their vehicle before being approved.

2. If a license is for outstanding traffic tickets, an occupational may not be needed. An attorney can be hired to lift old warrants and resolve collection fees associated with the Texas DPS (Department of Public Safety) for allowing them to go into warrant status.

3. For CDL carriers with multiple convictions of traffic violations, obtaining an occupational license may not be possible. For Class "C" license carriers, an occupational driver's license may be possible after acquiring special insurance.

4. For those with suspended licenses from car accidents without insurance, restitution will need to be made through a payment plan with the Texas DPS, or by paying the fees off in full. The same applies to past due child support.

Having a license suspended can be traumatic for those who are dependant on transportation for employment or child care. However, equipped with the proper knowledge and proper legal representation, a favorable outcome is usually reached for qualifying drivers.
