April 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Woodbury, N.Y., April 11, 2011 – The switch has been flipped on a set of landmark improvements at Long Island’s hyper-local news channel. News 12 Long Island has “gone HD”— presenting a high-definition signal, available to all of Cablevision’s iO TV homes on Long Island.  Along with the launch of HD, News 12 Long Island has unveiled a brand new studio and has made dramatic improvements to its graphics, including the roll out of a new logo.  In doing this, News 12 Long Island has advanced the standard for 24-hour hyper-local news coverage in the tri-state area.

“News 12 Long Island has consistently delivered unique, award-winning hyper-local news coverage to the people of Long Island. This takes our service to the next level,” said Pat Dolan, News 12 Long Island News Director. “We look forward to showcasing our exclusive content in exciting, state-of-the-art HD.”

As part of News 12 Long Island’s state-of-the-art technology upgrade, all in-studio cameras and production equipment are now HD.  Field cameras and field editing are also HD, enabling reporting and production in the widescreen high-definition format across Long Island.

In order to maximize the benefits of HD’s larger frame size and greater clarity, News 12 Long Island has also completely transformed its studio.  Specific changes, designed to provide on-air talent with greater flexibility and viewers with more dynamic programming, include:
Newly designed, larger anchor desks and weather center that capitalize on the new format’s larger screen ratio
The creation of multiple stand-up areas throughout the studio, giving anchors more dynamic options for reporting
The addition of monitors throughout the studio, enabling the anchors to incorporate more video into their reporting
High-quality lighting, including the internal illumination of set pieces, to create depth and a new, bold look

To accompany these exciting changes, News 12 Long Island has also rolled out a brand new logo designed to mirror the streamlined look of the new studio.
